The center
is situated on 17.5 acres, and houses approximately 240 trainees in five
dormitories. An additional 70 non-residential trainees attend training
during the day. Of the 310 trainees representative of the center's
on board strength, only one-third possess a high school diploma or GED
upon entry. Approximately one-third of all trainees who enter
the program are under 18 years of age, while those over the age of 21 make
up about 20 percent of the population. A new state of the art dormitory
was built at the center in the summer of 2001. |

The center reflects a balance in diversity
with 42% of trainees classified as Hispanic, 27% African-American, 26%
Caucasian, and the remaining 5% Native-American and/or Asian-American.
On average, male trainees outnumber females by a 4:1 ratio. |
